Return to campus brings increase in COVID cases
Upper respiratory illnesses spread on campus after winter break. Twenty COVID cases were reported at CSB+SJU last week. This is an increase compared to fall semester's average of ten cases per week. Further, there are 12 new cases within the monastic community.
Johnnies commit to the Benedictine Volunteer Corps
Thirteen St. John's students will join the ranks of the BVC next year. Participants serve monastic communities abroad, including Israel, Puerto Rico, Tanzania, Kenya, Mexico and Spain. Since the creation of the program, over 300 Johnnies have been sent to 23 countries.
SJU holds funeral for alumnus, senator
Family, friends and community members gathered in the Abbey on Tuesday for SJU alumnus and former Minnesota state senator Dave Durenberger's funeral. Durenberger, pictured on the far left of the photos above, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the age of 88. He served on the U.S. Senate from 1978-1995.
Enrollment continues downward trend; SJU loses 90 students
Ten day enrollment numbers for spring 2022 show that CSB+SJU enrollment continues in a downward trend. St. John’s University decreased total enrollment by 90 students.

The provost has released an incentivized retirement plan in an effort to rightsize the faculty to the student body. Many have expressed disappointment in the plan's details, including the Faculty Compensation and Benefits Committee, who called the plan "inadequate."
