Ten day enrollment numbers for spring 2022 show that CSB+SJU enrollment continues in a downward trend.

St. John’s University decreased total enrollment by 90 students. The College of St. Benedict lost less students, at 56. 14 students transferred into St. John’s in the spring, while 21 students transferred into St. Ben’s. The number of students who transferred away from the schools is not found in the report. The drop in senior class numbers between fall 2022 and spring 2023 is largely due to students graduating early. Similar to colleges across the nation, CSB+SJU have seen an increase in the number of early graduating students. This metric will be something to watch closely in the coming years, as the two colleges aim to provide a four year residential experience.

In the fall, The Record reported that the last time CSB+SJU’s enrollment fell below 3,000 students was in 1973. Data from the Minnesota Private College Council indicates that state undergraduate enrollment has decreased by 9% in the past decade. Ten day enrollment numbers confirm this trend.
