Cathy O'Neil, author of "Weapons of Math Destruction," spoke on how unchecked algorithms may produce and reinforce classist, racist and sexist results in hiring practices, policing and sentencing. O'Neil encouraged students to be wary of blind faith in the internet.
Out of luck: students call off St. Patrick’s Day party
The annual St. Patrick's Day "darty" (day-party) was cancelled by students living in houses where it is typically held. The cancellation occurred following pressure from city officials and the passage of a city council resolution addressing noise disturbances in St. Joseph.
Refectory limits weekend hours
Due to staff shortages, the Refectory will close on Fridays at 3 p.m. and Saturdays at 1:30 p.m.
Boards make final decisions on program cuts
After two years of research and reevaluation on CSB+SJU academic programs, the CSB and SJU Boards of Trustees voted to close several academic programs after reviewing recommendations from President Brian Bruess, Provost Richard Ice and the Joint Faculty Assembly.
