Live music and concerts in Minnesota to look forward to this summer

This is the opinion of Rhianna Anya, CSB first-year

Live music is back: Concerts to look forward to in Minnesota this spring and summer.

It is exciting to know that after COVID, live music and concerts are making a return. This summer especially, many artists are coming to the Twin Cities for concerts, something that many can look forward to.

Starting off on May 10, right after finals end, rapper Gunna is performing at the Armory. The Armory is a popular concert venue in downtown Minneapolis and is fun if you arrive early enough. In March 2022, I was able to see Conan Gray in concert there, and it was so much fun, but I had to wait in line for over seven hours to get a decent spot, as the venue is majority standing room. Another exciting rap concert coming to Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul was announced this week: Rappers Future and Metro Boomin are coming on July 31. Also, in August, Kid Cudi will be performing at Target Center.

Noah Kahan, popular indie-folk artist, is coming to Xcel Energy Center on June 7 and June 8. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to both days of the concert, and I could not be more excited to start my summer off with Noah Kahan concerts. Later this summer, an exciting collaborative concert with Young the Giant, Cage the Elephant and Bakar will be coming to the Target Center on August 12. These three artists have many popular songs that will make for a fun concert.

In terms of musicals and plays, Disney’s The Lion King is on tour at the Orpheum Theater until April 28. Over Easter break, I was able to see the Broadway production, and it was a very impressive and nostalgic musical performance.

It is exciting to see the announcements of summer tours that are hitting Minneapolis and St. Paul, so look forward to plenty of concert opportunities this summer
