As the snow finally melts and the sound of birds fill the air, spring is finally here. After a brutal winter, it’s finally time to talk about spring fashion trends. Some new contenders hit the runway this year, allowing us to predict the types of clothes we will see during the spring season. The all-so-treasured trend of denim is, of course, making its round once again. Baggy jeans have been bumping skinny jeans further into the past. The other classic trend we saw last year, a white shirt with jeans, is making its annual comeback. Blazers and skirt suits are making a surprising entry for spring this year. During winter, blazers were also pretty popular, so it’s less shocking to see them on the list for this year. Skirt suits are something I have started to see a bit more of. However, it was still interesting to see them make the list for this year, since typically it’s a cropped jacket and a skirt. Not sure if it’s work-friendly; however, it does make a cute outfit that carries Elle Woods vibes.

The next trend, which was also popular when I was five, is sequined and embellished clothing. Mainly on the runway, this was found in skirts; however, I would not be shocked to see this used on other pieces of clothing. A more interesting technique seen on the runway makes garments look unfinished. To get this effect, rips replace traditional slits in clothing. The top two textures that I have seen this year have are silk and sheer. Both fabrics track for the changing weather, being lightweight and interesting to style. Silk creates a classic look and is a breathable fabric. Sheer isn’t new, but it is starting to be used more and is a good fabric to use for layering.

Now for my favorite trends for this season. The classic look of button-ups is coming back, often paired with flowy pants or skirts to create an airy look. Bold and colorful shoes are coming up to bat, and I love using a pop of color with shoes to add something interesting to look. The last main piece that I wanted to mention is statement earrings. I also absolutely adore statement earrings. Similar to the shoes, they can add a bit more to the outfit, and with the comeback of clip-on earrings, it doesn’t matter if you have pierced ears.

The last trend that will be seen is the different color palettes. The core classics of spring stay with lighter colors such as light blue, cream, greys, green and light brown. Moving out of the core classics, the colors switch to brighter hues. A range of pinks and reds fill the list. Bright yellow and peach are some of the warmer colors; for the cooler colors, a mute blue and grey with blue tones. As winter memories fade, we welcome the warm and new fashion of spring.
