Fashion trends making headway in 2022

As we leave 2021 behind, fashion trends will start anew.

In the new year, it’s clear there will be a shift in what we will be seeing in-store and in the media. However, that doesn’t mean that trends from 2021 are all left behind.

Trends often recirculate and refresh every year for the runways and can often predict what we see in stores.

Another factor is COVID causing isolation from others. Some of the new trends have been formed to change the energy of the upcoming year.

To start, a prominent trend we will be seeing from 2021 will be denim on denim.

Either you love this trend or hate it; however, it’s here for another year.

Skirts also carried over from 2021 in the form of pleated skirts.

As for the newer side of the trends for the year, a couple trends clearly stands out plus new fabric trends as well.

Going into the new year, it seems companies are catching on to the concept of sustainability.

Mono-fiber jeans are starting to circulate, meaning jeans are more likely to be made from singular, traceable and recycled fibers.

Not everyone is starting to do this, but mono/fiber is gaining popularity.

Another fiber that is gaining more attention is hemp. This is an incredible ingredient for clothing.

Hemp is environmentally positive since it requires 50% less water to manufacture and requires few to zero pesticides. The big plus is hemp is biodegradable.

Another win going into the new year of fashion is more companies shifting to focus on the durability of their clothing and not the fast-fashion aspect of their companies.

For the main bulk of the trends, preppy sweater vests are climbing back into the spotlight. Cher and Dionne rocked it in Clueless, and it seems to be making another climb to fame.

Knitted and crocheted textures will also be popular, as they became one of the top-ranked shopping fabrics during COVID.

Statement cut-outs will be featured in everything from dresses to shirts. A good reference to these cutouts would be the TV show Euphoria.

Pearlcore, which sounded weird to me, is basically pearls that will be used as embellishments on clothing such as shoes, sweaters and hats plus a return of pearl jewelry.

The final new trend hitting the rank is something known as dopamine dressing. What is dopamine dressing? Trust me, I was asking the same question.

Dopamine dressing, known as joyful attire, consists of different aspects. The first aspect is a joyful color palette.

This will be better reflected in the seasonal fashion trend for this year. Not only that, but it seems the trends are focusing on what will make you happy. The idea behind wearing joyful attire is to boost your personal mood.

Regardless of what trends are coming in 2022, it’s up to you to determine what you want to see in your closet this year. Don’t be afraid to make a statement.
