As coffee shops stock up with pumpkin-spice flavored treats and storefronts replace the dresses with sweaters, fall is in the air. A new season means new trends. The fall color palette has hit the runways and will soon be seen in stores.

Starting with a mix of deep reds, oranges and coffee-like browns seem to be the traditional tones for the season. Some shocking colors that have been popping up more are brighter colors such as bright orange, pink and blues. Of course, we still have the classic colors, such as cream and sage green. It will be interesting to see what stores start to implement the colorful and brighter tones for this season typically associated with warm earth tones.

The main idea for the color palette of the season and clothes trends is an idea of comfort with a calm and energy-boosting vibe. Going into a new season, perhaps an energy booster is what we need. It seems the classic denim-on-denim is now being replaced by leather-on-leather.

Leather jackets and leather pants seem to be the combo in particular. A personal favorite return would be the corseted waists, and a new trend that is somewhat similar is tailored waistcoats. Oversized button-ups and baggy denim pants can also be expected to make an appearance. Even though the weather might be a bit chilly in Minnesota, cream tank tops are taking over the scene.

Just make sure you layer. Accessories and shoes falling into the scene are eye-catching rings, clogs and loafers. As someone who often wears clunky rings, I am happy to see they made a list for the year. Cargo pants are another trend that is making headway. Personally, I never saw the appeal. However, the runways did. Staple points for the fall are the ever-so-comfy sweaters, fuzzy socks and ever-loving prints of plaid and flannel.

Comfy with a mix of energy-boosting vibe is a fall I can get behind. Slowly as we inch closer and closer to the winter soon to come, we can sit and enjoy the pumpkin-themed drinks and changing colors around campus. Be sure to stay warm for Homecoming and the changing weather!
