Halloween preparations are underway as the end of October looms in the next three weeks.

Some might still be looking for a costume that would be quick but (more importantly) affordable. Let’s be honest: in college, no one wants to spend more money on a Halloween costume than needed. I will share some easy Halloween costumes so you can look spooky without leaving your wallet in an early grave.

An easy solo or duo costume would, hands down, be an angel and a devil costume. For an angel, an easy all-white look with a halo could be found at any costume store. As for a devil costume, toss on some red and black or do a monochromatic look of either, and you should be ready to go. Horns can also be found at any costume store.

Another simple idea is looking at any movie or show that might have similar clothes to how you dress in real life. A typical show that comes to mind would be “Friends” due to how the vintage aesthetic has slowly made a comeback. Alongside “Friends,” “Stranger Things” has the same retro aesthetic, just with a few more horror elements.

Some movies that recently came out that seem to be gaining some traction would be the horror movie “Pearl” where the main character just wears a pair of overalls with a light blue shirt. If you don’t like that movie, don’t worry. There is always the classic “Scooby-Doo” to fall on, which can also serve as a great group costume idea.

A couple ideas that stand out from the rest in my eyes would be doing a modern-day take on Greek gods and goddesses. An example would be Aphrodite, the goddess of love. A simple pink outfit with a pearl detail since that is one of the things she is associated with—toss on some heart makeup and you are good to go.

Another easy costume would be a “white lie” often seen as a party theme. Simply find a white t-shirt that you aren’t worried about ruining and take a sharpie to it. Come up with a clever white lie about yourself, and there you go. At the end of the day, Halloween is a fun time to dress up, eat candy and hang out with friends.

I know I will enjoy a scary movie while the leaves turn outside and the dorms start to turn their heat on. I hope everyone has a fun Family Weekend and a fabulous Halloween just a few weeks away.
