As the crisp air peaks across Minnesota, fashion is met with the divide between comfy and stylish. For me, there is never an in-between of clothes, but I have seen there is a possibility to have both and stay on trend as well.

For starters, find a good pair of jeans. Over the years, baggy or wide-leg jeans have been the comfiest. They are also in trend for this season, so they shouldn’t be too hard to find in stores. Since the trend is also coming back from the 90s, baggy jeans can be easy to find in thrift stores. Jeans, in my head, always seem to be a step above leggings if you want to still have an element of ready-to-wear.

One trend I have been curious to try out myself is long skirts. Since it is still early in the fall and we’re not wearing full winter coats yet, skirts still might be able to get by without having layers. Skirts would be easy to wear and have been paired with various tops, from sweatshirts to long-sleeved shirts for the colder weather. It would be a good setup, if you ask me.

I love a cozy hoodie as much as the next person, but sometimes I get bored of the normal leggings and hoodie every day. I am finding myself matching sweatshirts with jeans and then adding earrings or some jewelry to elevate the look a bit more while remaining in that same comfortable setting. As for leggings, I am trying to swap out the normal hoodie with one of my favorite sweaters for the season. For me, the perfect sweater is normally a little oversized with a good texture to the fabric. Many of the local boutiques have a large selection of sweaters. While it can be tricky to find the perfect sweater, thrift stores have a couple of good options that I think are worth the look.

Those are just a few tips I have learned while trying to find a good combination of cute and comfortable. However, the most important tip I learned, especially at this school, is to wear what you are comfortable with. Often, when it comes to clothes, some people might overthink how someone else would look at them. I am not perfect at this; my roommate would tell you that I overthink about half of the things I wear, which I learned makes any type of clothing you wear uncomfortable. Dressing for yourself can be one of the most comfortable things you can do, and if you want to try something new, go for it. There is a reason why trends come and go so quickly. Everything is constantly changing around us, so we might as well have some fun.
