Major changes were made in CSB Athletics this week, with one member of the community embracing a new position within the department while another moved on to new opportunities.
One depature was Emily Carr, who was previously the athletic operations manager. Carr is stepping down from the role to pursue a position at another institution, and former athletic operations and media assistant Haley Jung will take over the role.
Jung will serve as the interim athletic operations manager from this spring until July 1, the end of the fiscal year. The department hopes to find a long-term solution after the school year is finished.
“While I am interim this spring, I am hoping to continue to create a positive environment for CSB student-athletes and our fans,” Jung said.
Jung, and the eventual long-term candidate, have big shoes to fill.
Carr was hired at CSB last year after spending two years with the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Counsel as an intern and then the assistant director. In this position, she managed and conducted over 20 conference championships while also mitigating the effects of COVID-19.
Carr was a 2019 graduate from St. Olaf and was a standout member of the Ole softball team. She was also involved in Student-Athlete Advisory Committees at the MIAC and Division III level while majoring in athletic administration and management and minoring in women’s and gender studies.
Carr also attended the NCAA Leadership Academy with CSB head athletic trainer, Erin Ross, over the winter.
Carr added a level of depth and expertise to the CSB athletic department that was key in building the success of not only athletes but also the department as a whole.
