The CSB and SJU soccer teams began their seasons on Aug. 30 against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Wartburg, respectively. Both teams opened with a stretch of home games.

The Bennies lost a tough match to Eau Claire 0-2 but bounced back with a 3-2 victory against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Sophomore Avery Soli scored two goals and senior Alli Voss scored one.

Voss scored a hat-trick in the Bennies against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in their 3-1 victory and scored the game-winner in the 1-0 win against Central College.

The Johnnies opened their season with two 0-1 defeats against Wartburg and Carroll. They responded with a 3-0 win over St. Nobert with goals from senior Joe Pearson, junior Alex Bowman and junior Isaiah Silver.

The Johnnies routed Minnesota-Morris in a 9-1 win on Tuesday. Three players scored two goals: junior Ronan O’Connor, senior Christian Rodriguez and senior Mahmoud Soumah. Other goal scorers included Bowman, sophomore Andrew Pitzner and junior Connor Drong.

The Bennies’ next game is Sep. 14 at Wartburg, and the Johnnies play Sept. 17 at home against Macalester.
