CSB alumna and Chief Executive Officer of Best Buy Corie Barry is giving back to her alma mater in the form of the Barry Family/Best Buy Scholars program. Barry is a 1997 graduate of St. Ben’s.

The program is set to provide four-year renewable scholarships to four Bennies each year starting in fall 2023, maxing out at $20,000 per year. The scholarships are intended to uplift women’s education and attract students to Best Buy Teen Tech Centers. According to the Best Buy website, the centers are intended to provide technology, training and mentorship young people need to achieve their potential and pursue their dreams.

Through the Best Buy Teen Tech Centers, teens will have access to technology, resources and training to create and innovate, mentors and technical training and college guidance support. There are currently 52 locations across the United States, and Best Buy hopes to open 100 more by 2025. Throughout their time at CSB, the selected recipients will be able to pursue opportunities interconnected with the scholarship. According to the CSB+SJU website, they will be able to pursue the following opportunities: • Summer fellowships for students involved at non-profits, which includes host organizations of Best Buy Teen Tech Centers • CSB+SJU mentorship through Advocates for Inclusive Mentoring (AIM), Women in STEM or Intercultural LEAD • Leadership programs such as Bennies in Business or Hynes Scholars • Academic enrichment and support programs such as Emerging Scholars, Math and Writing Centers and Honors Program • Consideration for a Best Buy Internship

Admitted CSB students who are past or current participants at a Best Buy Teen Tech Center or teens participating in Best Buy Foundation strategic partner organizations are eligible for the scholarship.
