The Record is the independent student newspaper of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, serving the CSB+SJU community since 1888.

Our Mission

Founded and operated by students, The Record is committed to fair, accurate, and comprehensive coverage of our campus communities. We strive to inform, challenge, and engage the CSB+SJU community through honest reporting and thoughtful opinion. Above all, The Record aims to defend the rights of students by holding all parts of the institutions, including the administrations, faculty, staff, student governments, clubs and especially itself accountable to the student body.

The Record operates independently of the administrations of both colleges. Our editorial decisions are made solely by student editors and are not subject to review or approval by college officials.

The Record reserves the right to free speech. Opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of the student body, faculty, or the CSB+SJU administration. No part of this publication may be reproduced without written consent.
