Fall is just around the corner as we leave the summer weather behind. So, fall trends are coming to the stores among the early Halloween decorations. With the end of New York Fashion Week, we have the set fashion trends for this season and the color palette for this year. The core classics for colors have changed to fit with a more realistic set of trends making a comeback as well. Without further ado, let’s jump into it.

The first couple of main trends for clothes are sweaters, long dresses and skirts, button-ups, flared jeans and baggy jeans. These are core classics for the season. Sweaters are also given; however, they might feature floral patterns or polka dots, which seem like the newer prints hitting the runways. Button-ups will support a couple of recent trends I will speak on further down. The flared jeans seem to match the trend from last year of baggy jeans. We have entered some new different styles for this year.

We seem to be leaving the academic aesthetic and entering into business wear, realistic clothes and romantic gothic. Let’s start with the easiest and move our way up to the new styles for this year.

Business wear is leaving the workspace and entering the everyday wear, which includes blazers, button-ups, dress pants and pinstripe patterns. On the runway, there was more of a feeling of “realistic clothes.” Typically, when looking at runways, we have jeans, white T-shirts and a simple jacket over them. On the runway, our everyday clothes are hardly ever really seen. The last trend that seems more out there is romantic gothic pieces that are black velvet, lace, ribbons and dramatic collars. This also goes hand-in-hand with the long dramatic dresses styled slightly with the Wednesday Addams look.

The core classic colors for this year are black, white, navy and tawny brown. The core classics switched out quickly, returning the normal burnt orange to a seasonal place. As for the more seasonal colors for this year, there are rose violet, red-orange and muted red. Finally, the brighter colors include teal, light purple and, my least favorite color, lime green.

With a new season means new trends and colors. I am excited to see what people start to do with romantic gothic. My favorite clothing items for this year would be sweaters, button-ups and baggy jeans. While I am sad to see dark academia be replaced, it is refreshing to see more of an everyday look on the runways encouraging daily wear rather than high fashion. I will always be close to my burnt orange; however, I love the red-orange and the usage of purples this season. Regardless of how you dress this fall, coats will always be in style for Minnesota. Stay warm this fall season.
