Heaven on earth and deals on wheels: the glory of a classic Kwik Trip donut
This is the opinion of Ellie Selisker, CSB sophomore.
Imagine this: you and your friend are driving back from SJU after a long night of studying. You are tired, starving, but most of all donut-deprived.
You wonder: where in this small town can I find a donut, one with enough adequacy to replenish the wantings of sweets? Well, my friend, say less.
Hi, I’m Ellie Selisker, and I will be discussing and analyzing the different donuts at the famous Kwik Trip in St. Joseph.
Personally, I have tried the blueberry, chocolate, lemon and cream old fashioned donuts. NONE OF THEM, and people I mean none of them, even compare to the classic glazed donuts.
These babies come in a pack of six, (I mean what is better than that and the price). I can even afford them, and I am more broke than a doorknob.
At the register, they ring up to a total of $2.99, and the night shift manager even offers to drizzle chocolate sauce (for free). What more can you ask for?
These suckers can be used in every situation: hunger attacks, sad moments, sugar crazes and late nights (especially after getting pulled over—couldn’t be me. I’m telling you folks, that 60 mph speed trap is a killer). However, that is beside the point.
Okay, now we will be comparing nutritional values. They all clog your arteries—trust me I am a certified lifestyle coach. Moderation is key, people!
However, would you rather worry about clogged arteries, or would you like to fall in love with a food object, fall in love with the sweet sound of “hey, get in girlfriend, we’re going to Kwik Trip.” By that time, when you hear that statement, you are going to sprint to that car, no matter how cold it is outside.
According to myfooddiary.com, the classic glazed donut has 370 calories and takes around 20 minutes to burn off. But, my friend, think about it. You eat a classic glazed donut and immediately want another one. So, what do you do? Run to Kwik Trip. Burn off the old donut and get another one. Or, just get the six pack.
I just interviewed a friend and asked her opinion about Kwik Trip donuts. She replied that the classic glazed is a 10/10, whereas the blueberry old fashioned would be next on the list with a 6/10.
Another individual I interviewed said that she worked at Kwik Trip and saw where the donuts came from. She replied that the classic glazed donuts were always her number one pick.
Overall, the majority of people I interviewed said they preferred the glazed classic donut. I am not biased; they are just heaven on earth and deals on wheels.
