Since the first day of spring rolled around, it’s time to speak about the new spring fashion trends. Even the midweek snowstorm doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to colorful prints and warmer weather. Hopefully, the weather will understand it’s time for spring. Until then, these are the trends of this spring.

Starting out strong, we will be seeing the return of corset tops. Last year around this time, these tops became very popular on social media, so it’s no surprise that the top is returning to the scene. Bras as tops are showing up on the runway, often partnered with jackets or high-waisted pants.

Something that no one will ever be able to escape is the Bermuda shorts. The Johnnies already hopped on this trend for the season. On top of Bermuda shorts, we have the idea of baggier pants. Cargo pants and balloon pants from the early 2000s are making a comeback, mainly seen on Instagram.

Relaxed denim, which are baggier jeans, will be more popular. Miniskirts and microskirts will also be seen mainly due to the warmer weather and the rise of their popularity. The only difference between a miniskirt and a microskirt would be the length, with microskirts a few inches shorter than miniskirts.

The last three key pieces that have made their way onto runways are leather jackets, cardigans and sports glasses. Leather jackets are seen throughout the ages and seasons, so it’s not a shock to see them again gaining popularity. Cardigans are often a fall statement point, but as Minnesota weather has reminded all of us, a lovely warm cardigan will be helpful and in fashion for this spring. Sports glasses seem to be a confusing trend. Who knows what the purpose of having sports sunglasses is, but they are seen on the runways; therefore, they will be seen as a possible trend for this spring.

Colors and patterns are changing for the season, just like every year. The new patterns we will see will be influenced by psychedelic patterns common with what you see in 70s clothing and sometimes wallpaper. Heirloom florals will be more frequent as well. If you don’t know what heirloom florals mean, think of flower patterns. The last popular pattern you might see in stores will be fruit salad design, which sounds all over the place, but it just means fruit print.

The colors for this season are what we would typically see for spring colors: bright and lively colors, a perfect start for a new season. The prominent colors that you will see the most of will be peach, butter yellow, light blue and any shade of green. Hopefully, the bright colors will soon match the sunny blue skies. This is where I leave for now.
