The Record wins Minnesota newspaper awards

Current and graduated members of The Record staff are set to receive awards as a part of the Better Newspaper Contest at the awards banquet

Current and graduated members of The Record staff are set to receive awards as a part of the Better Newspaper Contest at the awards banquet on Thursday, Jan. 26. The Better Newspaper Contest is an annual competition run by the Minnesota Newspaper Association.

The Record submitted their entries in the weekly collegiate newspaper division. All weekly college newspapers across Minnesota could enter submissions into the contest.

Emmett Adam, Landon Peterson, Tess Glenzinski and Jacob Gathje won the Editorial category for their March 17, 2022, Our View titled “Navigating the nuance of a new president.” Will Schwinghammer took second in the Investigative Reporting category for his Oct. 14, 2021, article “Reports surface of ‘sex competition’ in Patrick Hall.” Gathje’s March 17, 2022, article “CSB/SJU announce first-ever joint president” took second place in the Local Breaking News Coverage category.
