Senate Update

The St. Ben’s Senate (SBS) passed one motion at its first meeting of the 2010-2011 school year Wednesday, Sept. 1. The motion asked for $137.00 to go toward a sustainability concert sponsored by Echo.

“Echo is hoping to invite different clubs on campus to create a united front of sustainability,” Sen. Maddie Hansen said. “The goal is to promote sustainability to more upperclassmen.”

The motion was approved 10-4-0.

The senate also formed committees for Public Relations and Events, Bennie Magazine, Community Outreach and Sustainability. The SBS formed task forces on alumnae relations, Bennie Day, the Johnnie/Tommie Homecoming game and Women’s Health Day.

There will also be an upcoming election to fill three senate seats. Public Relations Representative Jennifer Schwope encouraged any who are interested to fill out an application. Senate meets again next Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
